What is the point of the super early launch?
Improve the product using your feedback and signal demand to partners and investors. We don’t really care about making a profit out of this launch.
We kindly ask you to use it heavily on a daily basis for non-critical tasks and give us as much feedback as possible. You will get to keep a fully-working limited-edition unit as a collectible that might be worth thousands of dollars in the future.
How do I get the core out?
While mounted to the speaker, push the bottom half of the core to release it, it will rotate 45 degrees so that you can pull it out easily. In earbud mode, twist and pull the core from the earbud driver module and it will be released.
I’m afraid of losing the core, how can I find it if it went missing?
This is a common issue with earbuds overall. Adding GPS inside the core isn’t feasible for size and battery constraints. So, we’re working on 2 solutions:
- Integrate the product with Apple’s and Google’s Find My network.
- From the mobile app, you can instruct the system to play a loud sound to help you locate it. It will only work if the core is less than 10 meters from your smartphone and is connected to a power module and a sound module in any mode.
How is the sound quality?
This is a subjective topic, but what you need to know is that our technical co-founder Fady is an audiophile, our operations co-founder Alina is a melophile, and our design co-founder Daniel is a music producer. So, audio quality is dear to our hearts and we’ll push the envelope on what can be done in each per.
How many years of software updates do I get?
Our aim is 5 years of feature updates and 10 years of security updates. But, since all of our software will be open-source, our products can and should be supported for even longer than 10 years.
Why do you charge for software?
For a small startup like Newnorm, it is already a huge undertaking to build an operating system, an AI, and a multi-platform app. But we’re doing it to give you true ownership. With the paid plan, it is not only fair that you pay for a service that we run through our decentralized servers, but you’re also funding an open-source project that won’t only be beneficial to you but to the world.
What happens if I stopped paying the paid subscription?
You’ll be downgraded to the free plan. Don’t worry, your Sound will continue to work normally and will receive security and feature updates.
What type of customization will be available in the future?
In 2025, we’ll expand configurations for modules to cover wider price points and make modular accessible to everyone. In 2026, we’ll offer colour customizations. Think Nike’s customization, but for your tech.
